WesConnects is a Student of Color mentoring program designed to cultivate the sharing of knowledge, experiences, strengths, and aspirations between incoming and returning students as well as faculty, staff, and alumni. The program creates a network of support that recognizes and affirms the complex identities and multiple meanings associated with the concept of Student of Color, which in turn fosters academic successes and an educational climate that encourages engagement in diverse contexts.

WesConnects' methodology is one that incorporates a variety of different participants, relationships, activities, spaces, and mediums. Incoming students, returning students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders come together in a multiplicity of ways, represented by the five oval portals. These portals are connected by their common potential as conduits of growth, with the arrows going between them representing this relationship. Within this structure, numerous kinds of connections among individuals are enabled, represented by the larger arrows that describe different forms of exchange. Finally, WesConnects as a whole becomes an entity in which the past informs the future (archiving), while our capacity to dream inspires the past (histories).

WesConnects has created a form in which space is allotted for the contributor to write down thoughts relating to the question posed and to submit personal information such as name, email address, and telephone number. The submitted forms will be available through the a password protected website through the difficult dialogues blog. With permission, we hope add information submitted to the ODSE website, so that a strong network of support is visible and available to individuals who would like to connect, share, and cultivate mentoring relationships. If you are interested in being involved with WesConnects, click on the form below and return it to Janice Watson at jwatson@wesleyan.edu.  Many people drew their response to the question on the form. In this case, please drop off the form at the ODSE office in North College, Rm 121.
