The Chemistry Major outline:

The Chemistry track consists of the following courses:

 

 Fall

CHEM143 [or 141*] CHEM144 [142*]
   or Advanced Placement Score with grade of 4 or 5.
  CHEM152 Lab (suggested to be taken CHEM143 in the Fall and CHEM142 in the Spring)

   or Advanced Placement Credit with grade of 4 or 5.
     

Sophomore

Three 300-level electives (other than CHEM337/338, CHEM348/349). One of these three may be replaced by two research tutorials.
 
Also required, one year of Physics PHYS111/112 or PHYS113/116 or Advanced placement Score of 4 or 5.
 
All chemistry majors are encouraged to do research with a faculty member CHEM409/410, including participating in one or more summer research programs.
 

Note:
* Students who have been exempted from CHEM144 must take CHEM361, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, in order to gain familiarity with inorganic chemistry. Chemistry, must be selected as one of the 300-level electives.
